The recent news of the lawsuit filed by Oracle against SAP and subsidiary TomorrowNow for "corporate theft" has certainly put the spotlight on the third party ERP maintenance market. The Founders of Versytec have been unwavering in our message that not all ERP products, or maintenance providers are created equally. We have repeatedly stated that products other than JDE World are not fully supportable by a Third Party.
Since our launch over 4 years ago, we have limited our service offerings to the support of JDE World only. We have watched as TomorrowNow has picked up momentum in the marketplace, made headlines, and expanded their offerings to include more and more ERP Systems and geographical coverage. Offerings that we felt were driven more by the desire to wrestle market share from a rival than the actual ability to legally support the products. We have also seen a couple of new companies that have emerged with the same business model (and same management, in some cases) and immediately offer support for a "laundry list" of ERP products all over the globe.
A successful lawsuit between Oracle and SAP/TomorrowNow does not spell the demise of third party support. It may, however, be the end of the "illusion of support" for products that can't be fully supported. Versytec does not engage in any practices involving the downloading of software from Oracle, nor do we offer to give customers access to the Oracle "Knowledge Base" as others in the market have. JDE World can be legally supported and Versytec shall continue to do so. If you are a JDE World user and are looking into third party maintenance, do not subject your company to the unnecessary risks associated with third party providers who support many different ERP platforms. This has been the message of Versytec since we opened our doors, and it has never been more true than it is today.
